Camp in Tea Tree Gully

Co-ed infantry cadet unit catering for ages 9yrs - 11yrs for junior cadets and 11yrs - 19yrs for senior cadets. We have been meeting weekly since that date and are at present meeting at the tea tree gully road and cycle safety centre hazel grove ridgehaven. The legion was established in 1904 by captain roger pocock and the legion cadets started in adelaide in 1987. We are the core training group responsible for the training of some 13 youth groups in the drill movements required for the anzac eve youth vigil held annually at the state war memorial adelaide form 6pm on 24th april until 6am on 25th april, when the memorial is handed over to the official catafalque party for the dawn service. Small fee charged for slouch hat issue. Fees: $25 annually and $3 per week. Free current army pattern auscam uniforms issued on enlistment. Day and overnight camps held. All officers and instructors hold police clearance certificates and we are fully chaperoned on all activities. Topics learned include: drill, navigation, rifle drill, self defence, first aid, survival skills, search and rescue techniques, radio communications. 19+yrs for adults. Our historic fighting regiment is the royal frontiersmen 25th fusiliers, behbeho, who won battle honours in ww1 at kilimanjaro, nyangao and buukobs in east africa 1915-1917.

The Legion of Frontiersmen is a worldwide organization with a long history dating back to prior WW1. Our Officers and cadets maintain the tradition and comradeship of our ancestors and the Australian attitude of mate ship that is so vital to our country’s history. Over the years the focus has changed to cater for the youth of South Australia. They also take Nationally Accredited First Aid training self defense training from competent instructors throughout the year. Other activities we regularly hold include overnight camps practicing field exercises, radio communications, rifle drill (for 12 years and above) navigation. Our training is designed to assist these young people by teaching them self discipline, pride and giving them direction in life enable them to achieve their own chosen goals. Parade drill is a big part of what we do, as this instill the discipline and pride so crucial to our goals. All our instructors have vogue Police Clearance Certificates and are dedicated to providing the superior encourage and training to our Cadets. They receive a sincere interest in our young people, allowing them to reach for and achieve high personal goals and learning valuable life skills at the equivalent time in a safe, controlled environment.
